
(Bon Iver’s Flume gave me eargasms all year. It just barely missed out on my top ten tracks of 2008.)
I’ll spare the commentary and just get down to the listings. But first it is a little surprising to note that for a self-professed indie kid, my #1 tracks for the last two years have been rap songs (2007 was MIA’s Paper Planes). There isn’t really a correlation between my favourite albums and favourite songs it seems. Very weird. Just goes to show, an outstanding track or two does not make a great album.

(If you’ve been hearing raves about how good The Fleet Foxes can harmonize, trust me, its not hyperbolic hype. Stuff Like White Winter Hymnal can melt your soul.)
