*This list dates back all the way to 1902 and has movies from all over the world, so if you have a depressing single digit percentage, it’s probably normal.
I have to say, my record after 1960 is pretty good.

(Bon Iver’s Flume gave me eargasms all year. It just barely missed out on my top ten tracks of 2008.)
I’ll spare the commentary and just get down to the listings. But first it is a little surprising to note that for a self-professed indie kid, my #1 tracks for the last two years have been rap songs (2007 was MIA’s Paper Planes). There isn’t really a correlation between my favourite albums and favourite songs it seems. Very weird. Just goes to show, an outstanding track or two does not make a great album.
(If you’ve been hearing raves about how good The Fleet Foxes can harmonize, trust me, its not hyperbolic hype. Stuff Like White Winter Hymnal can melt your soul.)

I got to call Zooey Deschanel by 10.59 man.
This isn’t a real band btw, but it should be. They’re called Munchausen by Proxy which is like the coolest band name ever.
Let The Right One In is a little known Swedish film about a twelve-year-old boy who falls in love with the twelve-year-old (“more or less”) girl next door who happens to be vampire. Now, this movie also happens to be the best thing I’ve seen all year. Too bad it’s gonna be eclipsed by that other vampire movie in a couple of days. Unlike Twilight, this movie about tweenies is defintely not for tweenies. Its subject matter and themes are disturbing to the extreme but it’s adolescent romance offsets one’s discomfort for the most part. I’m going to get around to listing my 2008 favourites soon cause, you know, it’s that time of the year, and Let The Right One In is probably going to be up there.

You’d think I’d be more excited when Fables gets adapted into a TV series but alas, the talent and the network producing it does not inspire much faith. A premise as strange and quirky as this won’t last on network television.
